Okay so the two guys in this video probably don’t get out much and are both single I’m willing to bet. However, that does not take away from the fact that pulling a tree out of the ground with your big diesel truck is anything short of awesome. I’m not really sure which is more impressive, the fact that the truck bucks off of its rear tires when pulling the tree and yet remains intact; or the fact that the guy is not using a dooley, but rather a single rear axle to do the job. I will say that the big tires have fresh tread and look like they provide plenty of grip.

No matter, there is certainly more going on here than just a lift kit, nice tires, and a fancy exhaust. You have to have some pretty strong horsepower to topple a tree of that size, much less yank it out of the ground and drag it onto the street. To be exact, you have to have at least 240hp – 395 hp. Those are the engine sizes that come standard in this Dodge 4 x 4 SLT pictured in the video. The SLT models feature a V6 3.0 L engine with an impressive 240 horsepower for smaller jobs, such as running over your neighbor’s Smart car or girly little Fiat. The one in the video no doubt has a 5.7 L V-8 diesel engine with an impressive 395 hp. These trucks are used for doing things like knocking over small commercial buildings and pulling trees out of front yards.Dodge built these trucks in response to Ford’s market domination with their F series. It seems like they did a pretty nice job. These trucks have plenty of power, transmissions that generate impressive amounts of torque, and body styling that makes guys drool. They top out at around $40,000 for a nice one. I would say they are definitely at the top of the pile as a competitor. Their slogan, “Built ram tough” is no understatement.

You could pull a whole flock of rams across the ground with that thing. They are built to take a beating too, You can see in the video that the truck jumps and skips a few times before persuading the tree with its argument. However, when it finally topples, it is definitely game over. Granted, they obviously dug up the roots as much as they could to allow for a much easier time and less stress on the engine, but I think they could have gotten away with merely tying the chain to the tree and smashing the gas. In the end, the tree folds like a rusty lawn chair even though it tries it’s best to drag half of the yard along with it out into the street. The guys seem rather impressed with their feat and a whistle calls the whole affair to a halt as victory is sounded by the traditional guy whoops and cheers. Now I know what you’re thinking. These guys pull trees out of their front yard, so what do you think you can accomplish with massive horsepower, a ball hitch, and some chain? As tempting as it sounds, fight the urge, and just keep watching this video over and over again.
